What Is Microblading?

Perfect Brows That Last for Years

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup (SPMU) — also called cosmetic tattooing or eyebrow embroidery. A trained brow artist uses a fine hand-held tool with tiny needles to draw ultra-thin hair-like strokes into the upper layer of your skin (the upper dermis), depositing iron-oxide pigment that creates the look of fuller, perfectly shaped brows.

Unlike a regular tattoo, microblading sits much shallower in the skin and uses pigments that fade naturally over time. The result lasts 12 months to 3 years depending on the technique (microblading, powder brows, combination or nano brows), your skin type and your aftercare. Annual touch-ups keep brows looking fresh.

At Elore Aesthetics in Islamabad, every set of brows is mapped using golden ratio facial measurements for the most natural, custom-suited shape. Pigments are professional-grade and skin-safe. All artists are certified, and a free touch-up session is included after 6–8 weeks.

Four Brow Techniques to Choose From

Different techniques suit different skin types and brow goals. Your artist will recommend the right one for you during the consultation.

Classic Microblading

Most Natural

Ultra-fine hair-like strokes are drawn into the upper layer of skin using a hand-held microblade tool. Each stroke mimics a real eyebrow hair. Best for people with sparse but existing brow hair who want a natural, fuller look. Lasts 12–18 months.

Ideal For

Sparse brows with some existing hair, normal to dry skin, naturally light brows

Powder Brows (Ombré)

Soft & Defined

Also called ombré powder brows or shading. Thousands of tiny pigment dots are placed into the skin using a digital machine — creating a soft, makeup-like filled-in look (like a brow pencil or powder). Lasts longer than microblading and works on all skin types including oily skin.

Ideal For

Oily skin, mature skin, fully bald brows, those who want a soft makeup look

Combination Brows

Best of Both

A hybrid technique that combines microblading hair strokes at the front of the brow with powder shading at the tail. The result is the most natural appearance — defined and full while still looking like real hair at the front. The most popular technique today.

Ideal For

Most skin types, those wanting both natural strokes and soft shading

Nano Brows

Latest Technology

A digital machine with an ultra-fine single needle creates extremely thin, crisp hair strokes — finer than manual microblading. Suitable for all skin types including oily skin. Heals more predictably and lasts longer than classic microblading. The newest evolution in brow tattooing.

Ideal For

Oily skin, those wanting microblading-style strokes that last longer

Why Microblading

Four Reasons Women Choose Microblading

Wake Up With Perfect Brows

No more pencil, powder, gel or pomade every morning. Save 5–10 minutes of your daily routine. Your brows look just as good at the gym, swimming pool, or right after waking up — no smudging, no fading.

Fixes Sparse, Thin or Bald Brows

Whether your brows are naturally thin, over-plucked from years past, or lost due to alopecia, chemotherapy or thyroid problems — microblading rebuilds full, shaped brows that look completely natural.

Custom-Designed for Your Face

Every set of brows is mapped using golden ratio facial measurements — so the new brow shape suits your face shape, eye spacing and bone structure. Pigment colour is matched exactly to your hair and skin tone.

Semi-Permanent — Not Forever

Unlike old-school permanent tattoos, microblading fades naturally over 1–3 years. This means your brows stay current with changing trends, and you can adjust shape or colour over time. No regret of "forever" tattoos.

From Consultation to Healed Brows

Your Microblading Journey

01

Consultation & Patch Test

Your first session is a consultation. We discuss the brow look you want, your medical history, and check your skin type. A small patch test of pigment is placed behind the ear or wrist to make sure you have no allergic reaction (waiting 24–48 hours).

02

Brow Mapping & Numbing

On the treatment day, your face is measured using the golden ratio — the same proportions used by makeup artists worldwide. The shape is drawn on with a removable pencil and you approve it before any tattooing starts. A topical lidocaine numbing cream is applied for 20–30 minutes.

03

Pigment Application

Using a fine microblade tool (or digital machine for powder/nano), iron-oxide pigment is deposited into the upper dermis — much shallower than a regular tattoo. Each hair stroke is drawn one by one. The session takes 90 minutes to 2 hours. Mild discomfort — like eyebrow plucking.

04

Aftercare & Touch-Up

You leave with detailed aftercare instructions and a healing balm. Brows heal over 4–6 weeks. A free touch-up session is scheduled at 6–8 weeks to perfect any uneven areas and refresh pigment that did not "take" during initial healing.

Healing Guide

Day by Day Healing

Healing is the most important part of microblading — proper aftercare directly affects how well the pigment stays in the skin. Following these steps gives you the best long-term results.

No water on brows for 7–10 days
No picking or scratching scabs
No swimming, gym or sauna for 2 weeks
Free touch-up at 6–8 weeks (essential)
Day 1–3

Brows look bold and dark — about 30–40% darker than the final colour. Mild redness around the strokes. Apply healing balm as instructed. Avoid water on the brows.

Day 4–7

A light scab forms over the strokes — DO NOT pick or scratch. The brows will start to flake naturally. They may look patchy during this stage — this is normal.

Day 8–14

Scab phase complete. Brows may look very light or even invisible — this is the "ghost stage". The pigment is still settling under the skin and will reappear. Do not panic.

Week 3–4

Pigment starts coming back to the surface. Colour begins to even out. Brows look closer to the final result. Avoid sun exposure, swimming, saunas and exfoliating products on the brows.

Week 6–8

Healing complete. Touch-up session performed to even out any patchy spots and refresh any pigment that did not retain. This second session is essential — never skip it.

Long-Term

Brows last 12–18 months for microblading, 18–36 months for powder/nano brows. Annual colour boost recommended to maintain richness. Fades naturally over time without needing removal.

Candidate Selection

Good Candidates & Who Should Wait

Ideal Candidates

  • You are 18+ years of age
  • You have sparse, thin, uneven or bald eyebrows
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have no active skin condition on the brow area (acne, eczema, psoriasis flare)
  • You are not on Accutane (must wait 6 months after stopping)
  • You are not allergic to pigments or lidocaine (confirmed by patch test)
  • You are not on blood thinners or undergoing chemotherapy

Better to Wait If

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Active acne, eczema or rosacea on the brow area
  • Recent Botox in the forehead (wait 2 weeks before microblading)
  • Currently taking Accutane (Isotretinoin) or within 6 months of stopping
  • Diabetes that is not under control
  • Bleeding disorders or use of blood thinners
  • History of keloid or hypertrophic scarring
  • Very oily skin may not retain microblading well — powder brows recommended instead

We always do a patch test 24–48 hours before your appointment to confirm you have no allergic reaction to the pigment or numbing cream.
